Hon'ble Lt Gen (Retd) Shashank Shekhar Mishra, Member (Administrative)
Lt Gen Shashank Shekhar Mishra, PVSM, AVSM, VSM (Retired) was commissioned in 17th Battalion of the KUMAON Regt in June 1983. During his long and illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, he has held important Command and Staff appointments.
He commanded his Battalion along the Pakistan Border in Punjab during ‘Operation Parakram’ and later along the China Border in Eastern Arunachal Pradesh. He commanded an Infantry Brigade in Lucknow, as part of Strike Corps. As Major General, he was assigned the command of a Mountain Division in Counter Insurgency Area in Manipur with operational responsibility along the China border. He has also served as the Inspector General Operations of the National Security Guard, the premier Counter Terrorism and Counter Hijack Force in the Country. He was promoted as Lieutenant General in April 2018 and appointed as the Director General of Infantry. He later commanded the prestigious Mountain Strike Corps.
An alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, he has also done the Higher Command Course at Mhow and the National Defence College Course at New Delhi. He has done a UN peacekeeping Course in Sweden and later served as Staff Officer in the UN Mission in Lebanon.
Prior to his retirement in July 2022, he served for over two years as the Quarter Master General (QMG).
